“William Shakespeare may have died nearly 400 years ago, but the Bard is still making a bid to top the music charts.

A group of Renaissance-style musicians have signed a record deal to release a compilation of the Bard’s sonnets.
Because the songs on the album were written by the man regarded as one of the greatest writers of all time, the band believe they have an album of perfect love songs.
“The lyrics are so perfect, so beautiful, they say what we all feel about love then and now” said Robert Hollingworth, the musical director of the album, of the lyrics.
“When you see someone and you fall in love with them and you say ‘Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? Thou art more lovely’. What could be more lovely than a summer’s day?”

When the band finally began to make music of their own, it was Helm’s voice that initially gave them their identity. Gnarled, textured and full of character and experience, Levon had one of those voices developed from years of travelling the roads of America. He was a rocker, a hillbilly, a crooner, a yodeller a blues singer and beneath it all he had soul too.

He originated the role of Brick Pollitt in the 1955 Broadway classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof but left the play seven months later to take on the role of Johnny Pope, the drug addict in A Hatful of Rain, which earned him the first of three Tony Award nominations.

Gazarra arguably produced his most powerful screen performances under the sensitive direction of his close friend John Cassavetes. Later in his career he developed a reputation as versatile character actor, starring in a string of indie classics including Dogville, Happiness, and The Big Lebowski, starring as seedy Porn tycoon Jackie Treehorn.

Anyone remotely interested in screen acting should make it their priority to seek out The Strange One, it’s a truly phenomenal performance.

We’ve worked with Ask on a number of projects for Sky and he is fast developing a name for himself as one of the most talented storyboard and concept artists around. The guy is ridiculously good and works at a God-like speed.

He’s currently producing concept art for us at the moment for a new project we’re developing for Sky so as soon as we get the all clear we’ll post some of this on the blog.

The first film is called Fun Things to do on a Sunday Afternoon and centres around a couple of men who embark on a jovial killing spree on one particularly slow Sunday afternoon. Starring William Croft, Chris Fulwell and Emily Louisa Rayner, the film was shot a couple of years ago but has taken a long time to sort out a few technical niggles. It was shot a Sony PMW EX3 using a Letus Ultimate depth-of-field adaptor and a set of Zeis Primes. Visually it looks great, and the actors were all terrific and fantastic to work with.

All that’s left is to throw on credits and then it’s finally ready to hit festivals. In the mean time check out a few of the screens below:

They are extremely special lenses and unique in many ways:

– they are the only true motion picture lenses to cover the full-frame still format
(FF35), enabling them to perfectly work with all film and RED formats, now and
in the future (including Red One 4K, Epic 5K and even Epic Monstro 6K)
– very fast with apertures starting at T1.4
– sharp and contrasty – much sharper than the Zeiss Superspeeds, especially when
wide open; stunning in low light
– they have wonderful character, producing beautiful images with a particularly
gorgeous bokeh (due to their special 14-blade iris). When used with digital
sensors, they deliver the most filmic footage we have seen to date, with a

The video has already had close to 7000 views after just three days and it’s soon going to be screened on television across the UK and North America.

The band were amazing to work with and the shoot couldn’t have been more enjoyable. Keep a look out for these guys because they are going to be massive.

The films are inspired by the old 1970′s training and science videos, complete with drab, flat colour scheme and retro technology (BBC Micro!). Andy Gibbins did an amazing job of channeling the suave, well-spoken and sophisticated personalities of the era.

We’re going to be working on the first episode soon “How to woo a female” but in the mean time take a look at some of the production stills and screens of the test shoot.

We’re aiming to make something really cinematic which will hopefully transcend the standard music video – something really visual, original and driven by narrative instead of just design.

These are a couple of the images he produced for us (At an incredibly fast rate too!):

To shoot was incredibly tiring but also greatly rewarding. In addition to the Grayscale Productions team, we had a crew of around 20 working relentlessly to meet our target schedule. The shoot was mostly smooth, but We had a few organisational hiccups along the way and one or two minor incidents; the actor playing the creature had a mild bout of claustrophobia on the third day of shooting and had to get out of the suit with immediate effect. Our Mexican gaffer also fell through the ceiling of the set whilst adjusting a light! It was fantastic fun though and the film is looking great.

After spending months and months in post-production, the film is finally moving closer to completion. Grading is now finished, the sound is on its final mix, and the edit is locked. Just digital tweaking to go and we’re ready to launch the film!

Keep checking this blog for updates. When the film is ready we’re going to promote it heavily and get it in as many festivals as possibles!

We had high hopes for this camera, buy truth be told, we’re a little underwhelmed at what we’ve seen so far. At $20,000 USD, Canon are taking on RED and the Sony F3 and quite possible the Alexa. Unfortunately the on-paper spec doesn’t really match up. In actuality, this camera should have been the next step in the DSLR market and should have challenged the FS100 and the 101. I personally can’t see Canon competing against it’s rivals and especially not when RED also finally released the full details of the RED Scarlet yesterday; a 4K powerhouse starting at $10,000!

Whatever your preference, fantastic times for budding film-makers…

We piled into Studio 1, which is the larger of the two green screen studios and immediately got to work setting up lights and equipment. We filmed on the RED ONE MX at 4k and finally got a chance to use our new set of K35 Prime lenses, which as expected were awesome. Tom arrived shortly after bringing with him a couple of wardrobe options. After makeup tweaks and a couple of camera tests we were ready to shoot.

It was a quick and easy shoot and Tom was fantastic to work with and couldn’t have been more patient or collaborative. The raw footage looks great and now it’s onto post-production where the edit and visual-effects team will now take care of the rest of the video.

It should hit your TV screens in over the next few weeks so keep a look out for it!
