About a year ago the Grayscale team decided to make a 24 minute mini-epic tackling themes of mortality, rebirth and redemption. The film was ambitious to say the least and required explosions, pyrotechnics and even a naked seven-foot demonic creature (Which meant creating a bespoke full-body prosthetic), and all on a very limited budget.
To shoot was incredibly tiring but also greatly rewarding. In addition to the Grayscale Productions team, we had a crew of around 20 working relentlessly to meet our target schedule. The shoot was mostly smooth, but We had a few organisational hiccups along the way and one or two minor incidents; the actor playing the creature had a mild bout of claustrophobia on the third day of shooting and had to get out of the suit with immediate effect. Our Mexican gaffer also fell through the ceiling of the set whilst adjusting a light! It was fantastic fun though and the film is looking great.
After spending months and months in post-production, the film is finally moving closer to completion. Grading is now finished, the sound is on its final mix, and the edit is locked. Just digital tweaking to go and we’re ready to launch the film!
Keep checking this blog for updates. When the film is ready we’re going to promote it heavily and get it in as many festivals as possibles!
